Brighton & Hove joins forces with Just Eat to improve road safety
Brighton & Hove City Council has been working with Just Eat to improve the safety of the city’s delivery drivers. The council’s highways and community safety teams recently carried out an engagement day, with the support of colleagues from the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP).
They talked with drivers about some of the issues raised by local residents, road safety and the concerns delivery drivers also had when out and about.
The riders were also shown videos about exploitation and SSRP officers spoke with them about safe and legal riding.
Cllr Steve Davis, co-chair of the council’s environment, transport and sustainability committee, said: “I’d like to thank Just Eat for welcoming us to their hub so that we could talk about safety on our roads.
“We had a great day talking to drivers about their work, the challenges of moving around a busy city and I was also able to share some of the concerns of local residents.
“Sustainable deliveries are a really important part of Brighton & Hove’s economy so it’s important we work together to make sure safety is a priority for everyone.”
