Pot luck in Germany

motorway

Drivers in Germany will be able to get behind the wheel legally, after smoking cannabis. The Bundestag has backed an amendment to the law that allows road users to consume limited amounts of cannabis.

The opposition conservative CDU called the move a “black day for transport safety in Germany” and dismissed as “absurd” the government’s argument that there should be equal treatment of alcohol and cannabis consumers on the roads.

The CDU had wanted an absolute ban for drivers to remain in place but was outvoted in the Bundestag on Thursday night.
