Stuart Lovatt unveiled as new TyreSafe chair

Stuart Lovatt, well-known to many RSOs as the former road safety lead at National Highways, has been appointed the new chair of TyreSafe. TyreSafe is the UK’s charity dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of correct tyre maintenance and the dangers of defective and illegal tyres. Stuart Lovatt’s tenure began on 1 September when he took over from Stuart Jackson who has stepped down after 14 years as TyreSafe chair. Stuart Lovatt has worked closely with TyreSafe for many years through his previous role at National Highways.

TyreSafe says his appointment offers “an enhanced opportunity for TyreSafe to grow its presence among road safety and road risk management stakeholders”.

He has been a member of RoSPA’s National Road Safety Committee and PACTS Behavioural Advisory Group – and a judge for the HRH Prince Michael of Kent International Road Safety Awards for more than 18 years.

Stuart Lovatt said: “I’ve been a supporter and advocate of TyreSafe since its inception and have seen how much it has grown. I’m excited to build on those achievements and delighted to have been appointed chair.

“Forthcoming initiatives internationally and nationally in road safety make this the ideal moment to explore opportunities for TyreSafe to carry its expertise and tyre safety message to stakeholders who can support our ambition to reduce the number of tyre-related incidents on Britain’s roads.”

TyreSafe praised the outgoing chair Stuart Jackson, saying his “commitment to the organisation was instrumental in its growth and the campaign successes achieved during his 14-year tenure as chair”.
