As you prepare to complete an educational course – We are currently carrying out an independent evaluation of some NDORS courses and are looking for participants for the study.

Participants will be asked to complete an online survey at three time points during the course booking and attendance process. Each survey will last no more than 10 minutes; in return, you will be able to tell us about your experience with the course and earn money for charity. You can withdraw from the study at any time.

Data Privacy Notice:

NDORS evaluation study – how we will use your personal data

Under data protection law we need to advise you of what personal data we will collect, why we need it, what we will do with it, and your individual rights. Any updates to this policy while we hold your personal data will be communicated to you when they occur.

What we need

TRL Ltd is the controller of the personal data you provide to us on behalf of UKROEd. The data will be collected when you complete the registration survey and will include your name, email address, driver number, NDORS offer number, the name of the NDORS course you have been offered, the Police force that made the offer and the date of offence (if possible).

You will receive invitations from us throughout the study to complete the three surveys. Through each survey you will provide data on the driving you have done, your attitudes and behaviour, and your knowledge about certain aspects of driving. The data will be stored for analysis at the end of the study. Your answers are really important so we will send reminders to you if you do not complete these surveys within a certain time.

Why we need it

We need your personal contact data so that we can send you invitations and reminders to complete surveys.

Your driver number and the data around the offence are required so that we can confirm with NDORS when you have booked your course, your course date and when you have completed your course. This allows us to send you the survey invitations at the timings required by the study. No other information about you or your offence will be shared with us by NDORS.

The legal basis for processing your data

Under data protection law all processing of personal data must have legal basis. The legal basis for processing the data you provide us as part of this study is ‘consent’ as you provide explicit consent for us to share, store and process your data as described by this notice, and only as described by this notice. You can request removal from the study and deletion of your personal data at any time without a reason.

What we will do with your data

All your personal data is stored securely and will not be shared with anyone outside of the organisations provided in this notice. TRL is compliant with all relevant data protection law and access to data will be restricted to those involved with the study. No data will be stored outside of the UK.

How long we keep your data, access, and complaints

Your personal data will be held in a secure database until the end of the study, which is scheduled to close in late summer 2021. At the end of the study all study data will be anonymised and all personal data will be deleted.

You can request to see or update the personal data we hold at any time by contacting [email protected].

You can ask to be removed from the study without providing a reason, by completing the ‘remove me from the study’ form HERE

We also need to advise you of how we will share your personal data. The key thing to remember is that we will ONLY share it in the ways described below.

Data sharing with NDORS

We will share some of the data you provide us in the registration survey with NDORS so that they can provide us with your course status (booked/attended) and course date. We will share: driver number, course reference number, Police force, name of course offered and offence date (if possible). You will also be assigned a participant ID number on registration and this will be shared with NDORS.

No data will be shared with NDORS that they do not already hold, except this unique ID number for this study.
