UKROEd National Conference reinforces commitment to road casualty reduction

UKROEd hosts its 2024 National Conference this week in partnership with NPCC Roads Policing. The Conference is the third collaborative event of its kind, and the biggest to date, with a theme of ‘Taking Risk off our roads: zero deaths, zero injuries’.

Taking place at the Radisson Hotel Manchester Airport, the Conference will bring together academics, campaigners, policy makers and police officers to present updates and reports on latest developments in the sector.

There are also plentiful opportunities for questions and debate in each of the four conference sessions. An extensive exhibition area offers an ideal backdrop for more informal networking and discussion during the refreshment breaks.

Keynote

The keynote presentation will focus on the need for a graduated driver licensing scheme. It will be delivered by two campaigners who have both lost family members in road traffic collisions: Dr Ian Greenwood and Sharron Huddlestone. Supporting them will be Rebecca Morris from RoadPeace.

Other guest speakers include Dr Elizabeth Box (RAC Foundation), Dr Shaun Helman (TRL), Professor Alex Stedmon (UKROEd), Sgt Mike Lawrenson (Greater Manchester Police), Marian Kitson (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency), PC Steve Bucksey (Surrey Police), Leanne McMahon (National Fire Chiefs Council) and Tanya Fosdick (Agilysis).
